So why Hooks2Crook. For years, I enjoyed being called a fisherman for Jesus. Fishing with my family means catch and release. I implemented the same method as a fisherman for Jesus, catch and release. However, the Lord had another task for me. In John 21:3-19, after the crucifixion of Jesus, Peter regressed to what he knew and was comfortable with, fishing. Jesus appears on the beach and spells out Peter’s real ministry. "Feed my lambs, Tend my sheep, Feed my sheep" this response from Jesus illustrated to a stubborn fisherman his new ministry requirements. Jesus desires us to work in His family trade, herding sheep. As a shepherd, we are required to care for our flock. Our flock consists of people God entrusts us to walk, protect, and lead as they grow in their faith. Discipleship is another word describing the work of a Spiritual shepherd. Hooks2Crook hopes to inspire other fishermen to lay down their fishing pole for a shepherd’s crook. The blogs are designed to encourage and equip other shepherds who might be struggling, like myself, to say YES to the transformation of a shepherd.

How do we heal from the SBC Sexual Assult Scandal?

I want to be a part of the solution, not the cause of more injuries. As a survivor, I understand the fear of the pain when reflecting on the past. News reports of more instances of people experiencing an injustice prick wounds buried deep. It has taken me years to find the courage to speak up about the criminal acts done to me. And it has taken even longer to embrace those pain points and filter them through the blood of Jesus. I by no means am completely healed from these wounds, but I am healing. This journey will be long but worth it.

How do you see yourself? Our perspective about ourselves determines the way we seek to love. We either embrace or deflect true love for ourselves depending on how we view ourselves. If we seek love in all the wrong places, then ask ourselves, “I am worthy of love?”

Blessed are…

When we think of being blessed, do we envision persecution, poverty, or grief? Those situations erect pain, not a blessing, at least that’s the world’s view. However, when defining blessing from a spiritual perspective, suffering is anticipated but briefly when looking at an eternal lifeline. A friend said, “We are not a period signifying the …

3 Ways You Can Help Expand the Reach of a Ministry

When the world shuts down, needs increase but the means to those needs… dwindle. Missionaries worldwide are finding it difficult to connect with supporters and fundraise to help continue their work. Even our local ministries have seen a drop in volunteers, funding, and resources provided for their population. The enemy would love for us all to throw our hands up and say, “It’s no use.” But removing hope from the equation is not the answer.
