14 Day Challenge

14 Day Challenge...You Game?

Raised in the church, I thought I knew how much God loved me. I heard the old stories about Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, King David, Ruth and Boaz, and the life of Jesus and his 12 disciples. These stories were familiar but never personal until I began reading them for myself.

For years I have attended Bible Study. I even led Bible Study, but there came a time in my life when completing the homework didn’t satisfy me. I wanted more! God kept pursuing me. The only way to quench my thirst for more was to carve out time to be with only HIM! I wrestled with sitting at the kitchen table with only a spiral for my prayers and Bible. I felt naked, exposed. God revealed my reliance on resources instead of The Source in my vulnerability.

As I eye focused on the small black print, God began highlighting things I had never paid attention to in His Word before. Those familiar stories became a part of my story. The depth of God’s love for us is rich and unfathomable. However, to grasp it, I had to get to know Him. One-on-one time with God is personal. I think we complicate it because it’s so simple.

God is a Good Father. He desires to have time with His child to hear about our day and plans. He also wants to pour into our hearts. Mend those broken pieces. Heal the hurt that affects our thoughts and strengthens our mold by reminding us of our purpose and why He formed us from the beginning.

How do you begin? Pray- Read- Praise (PRP). These three steps help us engage with God daily, ensuring a deeper relationship. I challenge you to give it a try for 14 days straight. Reserve a minimum of 15 minutes each day on your calendar for God. For 14 days, sit with a spiral and your Bible. Then Pray-Read-Praise.

How will you ever know how much someone loves you if you never spend time with them? My life has been forever changed by implementing this practice. But if you don’t believe me, try it for yourself. I would love to hear from you after the 14-day challenge.

  1. A couple of years ago when Candice wrote her book “A 15 Minute Date with God”, I thought I have read my Bible, done Bible studies, and had my Quite time for years,…..why would I think about doing this book, except it was written by my Granddaughter….so what the heck! Well—–I took that 40 Day challenge and it did amazing things to my life, especially my relationship with God. I simply had never done it in that way….Pray- Read – and Praise. The Praise was the part I had never added with my Quiet Time. A major difference…you have to try it and allow God to use it to really get the “feel” of it. So I add my vote to Candice’s to accept her challenge. 14 day challenge or 40 day challenge God works in His time to make a change in our time. Enjoy and allow God to renew your love and faith in HIM.
