Dreaming of a White Christmas

“I will extol the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. I will glory the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together.” -Psalm 34:1-3 (NIV)

Close your eyes and think of Christmas, exactly what comes to your mind and memories? As we get older memories become more important to our outlook on life. They either make us happy or sad. And sometimes the same memory does both. Happy because of the good we see in them and yet maybe sad because the people that were a part of that memory is no longer with us. But that is life. God numbered the days we would live before we were even born.

God gave us a choice how we wanted to live this gift of life that He gave each of us. For years I’d wake up in the morning and wonder or worry about what did I need to do today, and I mean literally for years.

During a Bible study, God showed me that when I get up in the morning He already has our day planned. And all I have to do is stay close to Him during this day.  Walking with Him wherever He leads keeps me from fretting over the day freeing me to relinquish my wondering or worrying about each new day.

I am 84 years old and finally, within the last two years, I am getting the answer from the Lord God. He simply invites me to live in His freedom, walk with Him, and follow His direction.

Now I’ve told you how old I am so if you have not gotten to this point in life, don’t worry, we do not learn to trust God like that until we have walked with Him. Hopefully, you’ll get your answer of truth before you are 84, so don’t give up. Continue to study God’s Word, pray, and worship Him daily. He is the Father of all, He is the Provider of all, He is the God of the universe, and yet He is the God who will devote His life to loving and walking with you.

Life is a “one day at a time” journey. We can build on the experiences of yesterday, live today, and look forward to tomorrow. We are not promised our tomorrows but God gives us a lot of those. He desires that you spend your day with Him each and every day. That is a choice you will have to make tho, He will not force you.

But after 84 years of life, I can assure you that the better and best days are the ones that we choose to walk in His love and in His strength. He accepts us right where we are, with any and all of the sins we have committed. He will forgive us of those sins when we confess them and ask His forgiveness. And then He will walk the rest of your life with you. But you have to choose each morning that you want to walk with Him in the day He has chosen to give you.

Now—-close your eyes — and think of Christmas. What comes to your mind and memory? Christmas is a gift from God the Father, how we choose to spend our days of Christmas is our gift back to Him. Choose carefully — we fill our lives and days so full we don’t think there is any time or room to add one more thing. But if you will choose to spend your days with Jesus, He will add such JOY, PEACE, and LOVE to your life and it will be full of grace and wonders.

As you prepare for Christmas, give your relationship with God a good examination, what would God change about your time and life IF you gave Him the choice. His Love will fill your heart to overflowing. Walk-in His presence and live the life of “JOY”!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2021

How do we heal from the SBC Sexual Assult Scandal?

I want to be a part of the solution, not the cause of more injuries. As a survivor, I understand the fear of the pain when reflecting on the past. News reports of more instances of people experiencing an injustice prick wounds buried deep. It has taken me years to find the courage to speak up about the criminal acts done to me. And it has taken even longer to embrace those pain points and filter them through the blood of Jesus. I by no means am completely healed from these wounds, but I am healing. This journey will be long but worth it.

What is LOVE?
Before we can love someone else in a healthy way, we must learn to love ourselves.
How do you see yourself? Our perspective about ourselves determines the way we seek to love. We either embrace or deflect true love for ourselves depending on how we view ourselves. If we seek love in all the wrong places, then ask ourselves, “I am worthy of love?”
