Scripture of the Day: Isaiah 61:3

“and provide for those who grieve in Zion to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.  They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

My husband, the artist, shared with me about a ceramic that broke while it sat in the kiln.  I asked if he could use new clay to mend the piece.  He explained the only way to repair broken ceramics was to shatter them and form something new.  Artist uses those broken pieces all the time, to create beautiful mosaics.

We, too, must endure a purifying fire.  Sometimes we come out chipped, cracked, or yes, even broken. However, God is good and never leaves us this way.  Just like the potter takes those fractured pieces and forms a beautiful mosaic masterpiece, so the Master Potter does the same with His clay.

We all undergo the refining blaze of the Lord.  It’s what happens after the fire when others notice His beauty from within us.  Using our original pieces, He provides them with a new purpose, saving each fragment to display His masterpiece in us.
