God Never Changes

Prayer:

Lord, you are the Alpha and Omega. You go before us and cover us from behind. Lord, may we trust you when our world is progressing towards unforeseen waters. May we step out of our boats with boldness.  You are God, who never changes. Your character is complete with grace, love, mercy, righteousness, faithfulness, never late, never far away, always victorious, sovereign, powerful, mighty, and the list continues. The abundance of your presence is richer than any chocolate cake and more filling than any hardy steak. Father, may we seek You daily.

In the name of Jesus- Amen.

Read:

“I the LORD do not change.” – Malachi 3:6a (NIV)

What is the peace that offers comfort in our lack of understanding?  God never changes. He is the same God in the beginning, He is the same God in our present, and He will be the same God in our future. The benefit of recognizing God never changes, builds confidence, and the ability to rely on God. So what does Scripture tell us about God?

  1. God Creates- Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” The ability to form and create something new into existence reveals God’s power. The detail in His perfect design shows how in tuned God is with His creation. Since God was precise with every detail in the beginning, He remains exact with every detail and plan for us. Trusting His hand with all our plans building our reliance on Him
  2. God is our shield- Genesis 15:1 “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” God tells us time and time again, “Do not be afraid.” He will provide our protection as we obey His commands. God never promises a life free from suffering. On the contrary, He promises, “In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33 (proving he remains our shield today.
  3. God is love- 1 John 4:8b, “God is love.” How does Scripture define love? 1Corinthians 13:4- 8a “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” Praise the Lord this is our God.

Scripture offers many more characteristics of God. I challenge you to spend time in His Word and highlight God’s character. Create a list of God’s attributes and place them in a location easily accessed. The more we identify, the firmer our foundation becomes.

And this my friend is POWER! When the enemy attempts to twist our perspective of God, stand firm. Use the Sword of Truth to vanquish his lies from our mind and regain confidence in the God who never changes.
