Scripture of the Day: Daniel 8:25 (HCSB)

He will cause deceit to prosper through his cunning and by his influence, and in his own mind he will make himself great.  He will destroy many in a time of peace; he will even stand against the Prince of princes.  Yet he will be shattered- not by human hands.

Last week I was summoned to serve jury duty for a case that touched my heart.  I sat in the room, feeling very defeated and bewildered by the lack of humanity in the world.  My heart ached for the people involved in the circumstance.  Through the provoked pain, God reminded me how He weeps for those He loves.

A quote from Todd Wilson in his book Daniel a 12 Week Study states, “Daniel’s vision reminds us that God’s people will find deliverance from whatever forces of evil are arrayed against them – but that it won’t come by any human hand.  Rather, God himself…”  God’s judgment will always trump the evil one schemes.  Proverbs 30:5 “Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.”

Our funneled vision limits our perception. God’s view is grander and identifies the best action needed to accomplish His purpose, to form a relationship with Him.  We can trust God to be just.

No matter the means of the tribulation (my choice, someone else’s choice, or even a test), God is still in control.  He has already claimed checkmate with the death and resurrection of His SON.   Our hope is found in the return of Jesus to finish the job once and for all, fulfilling Daniel’s dream.

Genesis 50:20 “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” We may not always understand or even agree with the route God takes.  But we can trust God and believe He will drive us safely to our perfect destination.
